Meet the Artist…

I’m a retired professional show jumper, from the San Francisco Bay Area, who married a cowboy and now lives on a ranch in a very small town in Eastern Oregon. I received my degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Spanish, but as of early 2024, I began taking classes at the New York Academy of Art, with an emphasis on atelier/old masters techniques in both drawing and oil painting. When I’m not painting, I can be found outside, jumping my KWPN gelding, Wilbur or trying to travel the world and experience new things.

My grandfather and great-grandfather were both famous American West Sculptors, whose work can be found all over the world and in sections of the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, WY. So needless to say, adventure, horses, and art are things that just run in my blood.

I have an equestrian focused practice that celebrates both the beauty in the details and in those unforgettable moments. Things that as a professional rider myself, experienced intimately on a daily basis. I pride my work in not only capturing the likeness of subjects, but also the individual characters in an elegant and sophisticated manner. The art that is on your walls should be a stunning commemoration of your equine partner and I aim to achieve just that.

Whether it’s a portrait or a moment of action, I love working on equine paintings by commission.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find something you love,

Ashley
